I am a machinist for 47 years . After seeing the market once again dry up on percussion caps I decided to machine a small lot of my TNT nipples for those who desire to shoot during a precussion cap shortage. I've tried that easy Tap o Cap die, punches percussion caps out of aluminum cans, Works great. The problem is making the primer with the 4 step kit. Very tedious time consuming. Very corrosive too.
I designed these nipples years ago when I was unable to purchase percussion caps. I wanted a no misfire and a easy smooth installation making these as safe as possible. The water Proof / water resistant was a unexpected plus. Percusion caps also work fine on my TNT nipples. JUst sqeeze the percussion cap slightly to keep from falling off. On occation I will use percussion caps. No need to change Nipples.  Never once has a single shot cap ignite during installation and only a rare misfire most often due to a lodged cap under hammer.  I've been a active black powder revolver enthusiast for over 30 years. I shoot on average 200 to 500 rounds a month.
Single shot caps are available and work as well if not better than the traditional copper/brass percussion caps. I have no more misfires then I ever had with the traditional percussion caps. single shot caps install very easily with the added plus of being water tight. Rain, snow, any wet weather never stops us.
ALWAYS USE EXTREAM CAUTION INSTALLING SINGLE SHOT CAPS. NEVER SEAT CAPS USING THE GUNS HAMMER
I STRONGLY URGE  PRACTICE INSTALLING ON EMPTY CYLINDER SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE EVER INSTALLING ON LOADED CYLINDER.
My T.N.T. (tap n tool) nipple has a slightly larger orifice making up for the slightly lower ignition of traditional caps. This causes a higher back pressure toward the hammer. The single shot caps remain on the nipple.  On occasion, you may see it going under the hammer area. Really no different than brass caps.
The only single shot caps that seems to misfire are caps containing
a plastic restraint holding the primer in the cap
as all blue and yellow colored caps seem to have. The restraint prevents the hammer from making a solid impact over the nipple.  When  buying  your single shot caps make sure its a all white no plastic restraint inside the cap. Refer to a couple great caps in photos. I noticed some ring caps are all white inside. Never tried them. Load on empty cylinder first time you use the single shot caps and nipple. Fire off all  empty cylinders as you would do with standard percussion caps.  You should see sparks and or smoke coming out of the barrel. Every brand I have tried with solid white and no restraints works. The single shot caps cost on average less than 2 cents each.
Buy one and try it. They work. At least you will be able to shoot during a SOLD OUT, NOT AVAILABLE percussion cap period and or wet weather days. I myself only use T.N.T. nipples on all my guns. As stated above I will supply several single shot caps with any order. load on empty cylider you will see sparks flying. Sure sign cap will ignite powder.
