Flint Knapping Folsom and Clovis points: Fluting Issues for George Eklund 1970's

Early Flint Knapping by George Eklund of Independence, Missouri. This was self taught and learned by finding Authentic Points and then trying to duplicate them.  Exactly. Trial and mostly Error.  These are made mostly from Missouri Cherts found in Pennsylvanian Limestones as nodules.
Heat treating some and not other material. Grain of chert or flint or agates.  Thickness of percussion from nodules, etc. etc. etc.
I would watch. When the Clovis or Folsom Blank was made... then ready to Flute... it was also a learning process.  These were late 1960's, early 1970's.  I have had them for a long time but never wrote down when.  Independence, Missouri.
When a Flute went 'wrong', it was immediate.  When the blank shattered in the process, he would toss them onto the yard. He discovered a 'technique' that worked... and perfected it.  Simple and most likely as the Clovis and Folsom knappers learned.
I picked these up that day, Different materials, heat treated, non heat treated, nodules, blanking... a lot of blood spilled, and flakes flying. I had no talent, but he started at 15 walking with me in Missouri plowed corn fields.  He is now in his 70's.
I can tell these are early experiments, as the blanks are percussion flaked and not pressure flaked edges.  Edges are mostly sharp and not sanded. He probably recalls each single one.  A lot of time... up to the Flute.  Then... next.
