These mappa burl wood veneer sheets have wonderful color combination that often varies from light tan to a beautiful gold with dark red/brown burl pockets. It also has a very unique aroma which is striking similar to the smell of leather. Originally from Western Europe, mappa is the only species of poplar that develops this rare type of burl formation
.
Veneer Cut:
Rotary Cut -
the process of peeling the entire long. Turning the log, while shaving the veneer as it turns produces Rotary Cut veneer. This process is the only cutting method that is capable of producing whole piece face veneers. Rotary cut will yield veneer with a broad grain pattern with no plain sliced or quartered appearance.
Due to the nature of wood movement, shrinkage and expansion are possible. Wood is a product of nature, and as such, no two pieces are alike to start with, while the same wood growing in different locales can vary greatly even though it is the exact same species.
There are many factors that influence the color, grain and appearance of natural wood veneer so the picture you see on our website is a representative sample of that species of veneer. The veneer you receive can be slightly different in color and grain appearance because each tree growing in nature is unique unto itself. Another reason for a difference in color is that you are viewing a sample picture on a digital computer monitor and colors will not reproduce the same on all monitors.
