The coin is round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coin’s edge is grained.
Obverse:
in the center — the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus and the circumferential inscriptions: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS) against the stylized masonry of the castle, the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES) on the silver coin and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE) on the copper-nickel one, and the year of issue to the right of the denomination (and the alloy standard to the left of the denomination on the silver coin).
Reverse
: in the center — the picture of Mir Castle and its stylized reflection on the water symbolizing past centuries, the mystique, and many unsolved mysteries; and at the top — the circumferential inscription: МIРСKI ЗАМАК (MIR CASTLE) and UNESCO logo under it.
