The coin is round in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The edge of the coin is reeded.
Obverse:
at the top — the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; in the center — a fragment of an engraving showing the Sun, the Moon, and stars; on the right — circumferential inscriptions: at the top - РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bottom — the denomination: 1 РУБЕЛЬ (1 RUBLE)  and the year of issue.
Reverse:
in the center — the stylized image of Sagittarius and at the top the inscription: SAGITTARIUS; at the bottom – the zodiac sign of the constellation.
