The coin is rectangular in shape with a raised rim on the obverse and the reverse. The coin’s edge is reeded.

at the top — the relief image of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus and an inscription: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ (THE REPUBLIC OF BELARUS); in the center — a picture of two galloping horses symbolizing the dynamics, speed, and strength; and at the bottom, from left to right — the denomination: 20 РУБЛЁЎ (20 RUBLES), the alloy standard, and the year of issue.
Reverse
on the left side — the relief image of the Don horse against the ornamental pattern of firearms (pistols) and an inscription: ДАНСКI КОНЬ (THE DON); and on the right side — the pad-printed image of a Don Cossack Host officer during the War of 1812 sitting astride a horse.
