    Description

I and many others were fascinated with George Eklund's "Arrowhead in a Rock" series.  This weighs 7.4 ounces. Almost 5 inches from end to end and the point is 1 3/8 inch wide above the side notches.
If you tap the base of the point... it 'rings'.  It is still one solid part of the nodule.  I never did ask where the nodules were found to work with.  He sure had no reason to let anyone know, either.  Sedalia chert nodules were also getting scarce for fresh material by the 1980's.
Selected flint/chert nodules were selected and then the work began.  Many broke in the process of being near finished.  Those that are finished, look exactly like an arrowhead stuck into a rock.  This has MO #3, signature and the date is smeared.  It has to be over 30 years old.  His hands were l large, callous from knapping, so the small letters are also a challenge.
Over time, the nodules became more difficult to find.  You needed to 'peak' into the nodule to find if it is chalky chert or high quality chert / flint.
This appears to be a Woodland Hopewell point, considering it was flint knapped in Missouri and often fields were hunted for authentic Woodland points and blades, not broken by corn field plowing.
Each Arrowhead in a Rock are unique and one of a kind.  No matter the intent, those that did not break while being made are scarce.
If this sells, I will find others from my collection to offer.  They need a good home as my days are getting numbered.
This was personally bought from George Eklund.  He would toss a 12 inch finished blade around as if they were indestructible, just for fun.  If he missed it, two points were made from it.
