Description
Up for sale, a 1960’s Guyatone HG-66 lap steel guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan, the Guyatone HG-66 is a sleek and simple steel with a slate blue finish and oversized pickup, delivering a brilliant, shimmering sound and sweet midrange character. This Guyatone has been freshly restrung here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-50 flatwound strings, contributing a smoothness to the top end response. The playing surface is finished in white with raised black fret markers, featuring a 20 1/2" scale length and 24 fret range. The nut measures 2 1/16“ in width, and string spacing at the bridge is 2 1/8“. The headstock retains the original metal Guyatone badge and stock set of open-gear tuners with white buttons.
The stock electronics work as they should, with large Volume and Tone dials for the single pickup. The cream plastic parts show faint aging, and the hardware shows light uniform patina. The slate blue finish is in good shape with cosmetic wear limited to some light scattered marks on the body as a whole.
